Play smart, be patient, and get lucky...you'll get pizza!

Well, after a long day at work (hand posting transactions and it being end of month) I decided I would play poker at Lefty's tonight. Game play started at 7 and I was there by 6, so I enjoyed pizza and water and watched a bit of the State of the Union address. 7:00 came and I had my 5,000 starting chips. I won the first pot by making two pair with my 84os big blind. I started to get excited. Well, it was an hour later that I won my 2nd pot...and I was nearly out of chips. I made it to the chip-addon stage and found myself with 9,000 chips. I played very solid and managed to get to the final table with about 50,000 chips. "10th out of 70ish people wouldn't be bad," I said to myself. Well, through one lucky break and a couple good plays, I found myself heads up playing for first. I now had 100,000. That only lasted 2 hands. I went out with high-pair and four to the flush after pushing all-in on the flop. I had a great evening and I won a gift certificate for 2 pizziola's. Guess Krista and I have a date night coming up soon :o)

2nd place - good enough for me ;o)

A Year of Blogging

It's been one year today that I started this blog. As post #172, my average is just about a post every other day. Lately my posts have been less frequent than that, but I hope to change that. Above is a picture I took nearly a year ago and never posted. It's a bit abstract, but going over last years pictures it struck me as something JD might like ;o) So, there it is.

Today there is a baby shower at my place, so I am going to hide. My dad is coming down and we are going to try and diagnose the Taurus that has been parked dead in the driveway for weeks now. After that I plan to do my taxes and make a trip to Fry's Electronics.

Ok, on to the subject of posting now. I have been getting home from work very tired lately. I play with the girls for the hour and a half I get to see them and then they are in bed. At that point all I feel like doing is lounging for a bit and then going to bed. 24 has been our evening "activity". We are starting with season 1 (season 5 is the current season). In case you are not familiar with the show, it is very unique. Each season has 24 episodes. Each episode is an hour long. One season equals one day. The episode of season 1 starts by saying, "The following takes place between 3:00pm and 4:00pm on the day of the California Presidential Primary." Well, that's how episode 16 starts, 17 starts with 4:00pm to 5:00pm. You get the idea. Over the course of the season you follow counter-terrorism special agent, Jack Bower, in his mission to stop terrorists from assassinating David Palmer, a black senator running for president. Along the way Jack's family is kidnapped by the terrorists, there are people bad on the inside of Jack's team, and all around good action the entire season long. We are at 6 or 7pm right now of season 1.

24 has been a good break for me. At work, another Credit Union merged into us and brought a TON of work with it to get done. The stress and sheer amount of work requires a break in the evenings. So, even though there are projects left undone, I'm surviving. Hopefully mid-February things will calm down at work. We are looking to hire a teller to work M-F 2pm to 5:30pm. That will take some of the member pressure off and let me focus on marketing like I should be.

Well, Lily is down for a nap right now and I think this is my chance to shower and get ready for my day. A year of blogging - who would have thought I'd last? ;o) Posted by Picasa

Birthday Hats

Mikayla still plays with her birthday hats. It is very important sometimes that Emmy, Teddy, and Mikayla all wear their Cinderella hats when they watch Cinderella :o)

Welcome to Keizer

I don't know the whole story, but a car drove into the "Welcome to Keizer" sign at the South end of town. I had to stop and take pictures. Enjoy.

My Latte!!!

Krista and I each received Starbucks gift cards as Christmas gifts. This morning (Saturday) we decided that morning espresso sounded really good. I had to go out to run a quick errand anyway, so on my way home I picked up a grande non-fat cinnamon spice mocha and a triple vente carmel latte. When I got home, Krista was giving Mikayla a bath. When Mikayla was done with the bath, it was my job to put her diaper on. I was in the middle of that task when I saw Lily with my latte! She was holding it upside down and it was pouring out on the floor. Lily's pajamas were completely soaked and she was very proud of herself. After making sure Lily wasn't burned, cleaning up the floor, and getting Teddy 2.0 out of the closet (Teddy 1.0 had quite a bit of latte on him), I examined my Starbucks cup. It was nearly empty.

Silence

Things have been extremely busy lately. Between work, family, and side projects, I have not had the time to blog. I have several things I want to blog about, but it will have to wait.

Pinball

I'm working on my high score in Windows' pinball game. This site made this old game a lot more fun.

2006 is here

It's hard to believe another year has come and gone.

Well, things have been busy - that is my excuse for the lack of updates. Another Credit Union merged in with mine, so things are crazy at work, projects at home are piling up, I have been feeling ill the last couple weeks, and I have a new toy to play with.

Hopefully I'll be blogging in depth about each of those items later, but for now I'll just talk about my new toy - a PSP.

Krista and my parents shocked me Christmas morning with a Sony Playstation Portable. I have been uploading pictures, videos, and software to it almost non-stop since I got it. It is a very slick device. Currently I am catching up on Lost on my lunch breaks. I also enjoy playing SSX on it and playing old NES games on it.

Well, if I have hopes to get to Starbucks before work (to use my giftcard - another great Christmas surprise), I should start getting ready.
